I learned a new technique in a workshop taught by Jill Charuk, and explored it further in this little painting. The technique involved starting with a dark purple ground and painting on top of it. The painting is oil, and I used a photo that I had taken of the Rio Cuale in Puerto Vallarta one time when my friend Brian and I went on a horseback ride up the river. I took a lot of liberty with the color - I painted this in the summer in BC, and I had put the Puerto Vallarta colors away for the summer, I guess, as it looks more like a BC scene. I guess it's a reflection of my two sides...a Mexico scene painted with BC colors.
